Upcycle Cardboard Boxes into Bookmarks and Gift Tags

upcycle cardboard boxes bookmarks gift tags

Before putting your cardboard boxes into the rubbish or recycling bin think if you can reuse them for other uses.  If any boxes have any decorative designs or unusual pictures then you could cut them up and use them for some craft projects.

The photograph above shows  a box which had some delicious cakes inside which I bought around Easter time - which explains the Egg theme! There was an offer for buying two so this was a good opportunity of showing you the before and after pics in one photograph!

For this particular box I was able to make 3 bookmarks and 2 gift tags which is good for one small box.  You can either leave the bookmarks as they are or you could laminate them to make them stronger.  To make the gift tags all I used was a normal hole puncher and punched one hole into the corner - very easy!

Other ideas for cardboard uses are to save pieces for other craft projects for children or keep cut-out pieces of cardboard to use when making handmade cards for family and friends. My daughters' keep a box of cut-out cardboard pictures to make greeting cards with from cereal boxes, food cartons, gift bags/boxes and other received greetings cards - whatever has the best usable designs! This is a great way of upcycling your cardboard and if you follow my blog you will know I love finding ways to upcycle things!

    1. I use tissue boxes, also. I breakdown old tissue boxes and save to make gift tags and labels. They come in so many patterns. Also use greeting cards for this. It's fun to imagine new uses for items headed for the recycle or trash.

  8. Now I have plenty of Kleenex boxes with beautiful markings. Well more clutter on my part. Hahaha. Never thought about cutting pictures from cereal boxes. Are they acid free so u can use them in scrape books. I mostly eiluse them to make cards. Of goodness new ideas are filling my head. Instead of bookmarks ,it can bemused to outline a card. Gotta try.
