 Day 11 - Glass Lanterns

I have seen so many different types of Lantern ideas for Ramadan. My girls were particularly interested in making the glass lanterns, so here is a tutorial and some photos of their work.

Requirements:
  • Empty Glass jar
  • Tracing Paper
  • Paper and Pens
  • Double sided tape/Glue
  • Paper Clips
  • Scissors

Instructions:

Step 1) Measure the size of the tracing paper you need to go all around the jar and cut to shape.
Step 2) Also cut out a piece of plain paper the same size to draw on.
Step 3) Design your pattern and when satisfied with it draw a strong outline on the plain piece of paper.
Step 4) Place the tracing paper over the design and secure with a couple of paper clips.
Step 5) Using Pens repeat the design onto the tracing paper.
Step 6) Attach some double sided tape or glue to one end of the tracing paper and secure it around the jar.
Step 7) Place a small tea light candle into the jar and admire your handywork!

Helpful Hints:
We preferred to draw the design on paper first but you could simply just draw your design straight onto the Tracing Paper to save time. If the jar is smaller and wider it is easier to place the candle in. We managed to light the candle at the side and slide and push in while alight with a metal ruler!.

Don't Forget that if you have made any of the Ramadan Crafts that I have blogged about, then please send in a photograph and I will publish this on my blog and my Facebook Page! You can send this via email (karimascrafts@gmail.com) or post on my Facebook Page Karimas-Crafts directly.
