I bought the cheapest pair of slippers, they only cost £5.00 from Asda (Walmart). I then experimented on them - they turned out great and my gran simply adores her slippers. The best part was that when her swelling reduced, I simply stitched up the gap again with a few stitches, leaving the elastic in place incase of any further swelling incidents!
The photo tutorial below shows you how to do this:
Step 1: Cut down the middle of the front of the slipper.
Step 2: Add strips of elastic to either side. Stitch sides if needed.
Step 3: Decorate the edges using ribbon. Add decoration like buttons or sequins etc.
Step 4: Repeat with other slipper and wear!
