These pillows are great to make, they are advertised as no sew pillows so any age or ability can make these. My 9 year old daughter makes these and has great fun with different designs! I actually found the inspiration to make these from a fellow blogger and as always I love to give the credit to the people who come up with these great ideas. Here is their link and a photo of where I got my idea from: greeneacreshobbyfarm.blogspot.com
- 2 x Felt Circles (Preferably two different colours for effect!)
- Felt pieces for face (ie eyes, mouth etc.)
- Stuffing (I used wadding)
- Fabric Glue
- Needle and thread (optional)
- Fabric Pens (optional)
Tutorial:
Step 1: Cut out 2 different circles of coloured fleece (I used a plate - Pic 1)
Step 2: Make some paper templates to make sure that they will fit on the face. (Pic 2)
Step 3: Cut out the fleece using the templates. (Pic 3)
Step 4: Place both circles together and cut around the edges a fringe, long enough to tie together.(Pic 4)
Step 5: Attach the face pieces to the face with fabric glue. If you want to add some extra stitches to make them more secure then do this now before you tie the fringe. (Pic 5)
Step 6: Tie the fringe together, with mine it is one red to one pink at the back. Do this about 3/4 the way round leaving a space for stuffing. Add the stuffing and then finish tieing the remaining fringe. (Pic 6)
Step 7: You now have your completed pillow to give as a gift! In the photograph below you can see the completed pillow (Pic 7) and also another one very similar (Pic 8).
These really are so easy to make and a great craft project for children to participate in. You could also have 2 different faces on the one pillow - the choices are endless to which designs you choose!
