The above photograph shows how I made some lovely leg warmers for my youngest daughter using some tights that were now too small for her!
This is a really simple way to reuse those unwanted tights or long adult socks.
Step 1: Find a pair of unwanted tights or long socks that you no longer wear.
Step 2: Cut the tights as near to the crotch seam as possible, then cut of the feet part of the tights or socks.
Step 3: If you wish you can sew the ends of the seams which can help prevent fraying. However, I have never had to do this with my tights, the ends curl slightly and have never frayed. I suppose it depends on the type of fabric!
You now have a lovely pair of leg warmers that your child can wear. My children have also used these as leg warmers for their dolls! Leg warmers are great to wear as a fashion accessory or to wear just to keep your legs warm when it is cold. My eldest daughter always wears leg warmers under her school trousers in the winter time!
Below is a photograph of the remaining top part of the tights which in our house are also upcycled and used for my childrens' dolls as knickers or shorts. If you look closely on the photograph below you can see how the bottom of the knickers has curled, this is what normally happens when I cut my girls' tights.
I hope you enjoyed this really easy tutorial. This week you might find me linking this post with some or all of the following link parties / blog hops:
